cosatuBusiness Report writes that Cosatu has described Thursday’s Constitutional Court ruling on the Nkandla upgrades as “exceptionally significant” for strengthening SA’s growing democracy.

The court found that President Jacob Zuma breached the constitution when he failed to heed the Public Protector’s recommendations on non-security improvements to his private residence in Nkandla.  The court ordered him to reimburse the state an amount to be determined by the National Treasury.  Cosatu said it respected the clarity provided by the court’s ruling and went on to state:  “This decision also reiterated and confirmed the president’s commitment, made during the court’s proceedings to refund the state some of the money spent on Nkandla upgrades.”
