fedusa thumb medium80 85News24 reports that the Federation of Unions of SA (Fedusa) has welcomed Thursday’s Nkandla judgment, with Fedusa president Koos Bezuidenhout saying the ruling was “a much–needed victory” for the restoration of confidence by the people of SA.

He added that the response of President Jacob Zuma and the National Assembly to the significant ruling remained important.  “The true test of maturity of our democracy now ultimately resides in the ability of our executive authority to step up to the occasion,” Bezuidenhout noted.  The unanimous Constitutional Court decision in the Nkandla matter found that President Jacob Zuma should pay back a certain amount of the money spent on upgrades at his Nkandla homestead.  The Centre for Constitutional Rights (CFCR) also welcomed the ruling, saying it affirmed the "supremacy of the Constitution".
