sapsANA reports that police on Thursday urged jobseekers to be cautious when applying for advertised vacancies that required applicants to pay before they could get the job.

SA Police Service spokesperson Warrant Officer Xoli Mbele said there were a number of cases under investigation regarding such adverts and added:  “Suspects are using the same modus operandi.  They will ask people to deposit a certain amount of money to get a job, several people have been defrauded in the same manner.”  Mbele also said:  “There are no jobs where you will be required to pay a certain amount of money to be placed.  We urge the community to inform the police if someone wants them to pay certain amount of money to be listed.”
