pikitupBusiness Report writes that talks to end a month-old unprotected strike at Johannesburg waste management agency Pikitup resumed at the Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA) on Friday morning.

Thousands of members of the SA Municipal Workers’ Union (Samwu) downed tools over the implementation of a wage deal that they say was meant to be honoured in December.  They also want Pikitup MD Amanda Nair to step down over corruption allegations.  Discussions to resolve the industrial action started on Tuesday and progressed until early Wednesday when parties agreed to reconvene.  “The CCMA is committed to this process and remains positive with all parties recognising the importance of finding a mediated solution,” said CCMA director Cameron Morajane.
