metrorail thumb medium90 92News24 reports that the Cape Town Metrorail train driver who was shot dead on Monday will be remembered at a memorial service on Thursday.

The family of Piet Botha will be holding the service at the Netreg station in Cape Town, where he was shot and killed.  Western Cape Transport MEC Donald Grant and Metrorail regional manager Richard Walker will also attend.  The United National Transport Union (Untu) said Botha had been doing refresher training on a railway line and was waiting for a train when he was killed.  A wildcat strike by other drivers ensued when the news spread.  Two people were arrested earlier this week in connection with the murder and will appear in court on Thursday.
