telkom thumb100 MyBroadband reports that Telkom CEO Sipho Maseko has informed staff that dispute resolution talks between the telecoms company and the Communication Workers Union (CWU) at the CCMA have failed.

In a letter sent to staff, Maseko advised that he has “therefore decided to implement the 50th percentile adjustment which will ensure all employees below the 50th percentile within the bargaining unit are brought up to an equal minimum level”.  He said Telkom had gone out of its way “to meet with CWU to ensure we find a resolution to the strike”, but these efforts “ have so far not proven successful.”  He encouraged CWU members who were on strike to come back to work, but also said the “no work no pay” rule would continue to apply.
