joburgcityThe Citizen reports that a terse letter penned by new Johannesburg Mayor Herman Mashaba a day after his election addressed to the metro’s employees has outlined his strict stance on corruption.

He wrote that he would not tolerate corruption of any kind and promised to crack the whip on slack performances and unprofessionalism.  According to The Sowetan, Mashaba has said people would not be fired as yet – but a skills audit would be done to see if their qualifications and skills fitted their job descriptions.  Those found lacking would be moved to other departments or trained, Mashaba indicated.
