newsEWN reports that the Gauteng Education Department says Marlboro Gardens Secondary School in Sandton will hold a disciplinary hearing for a teacher who threatened a pupil with a knife.

The teacher was apparently hired by the school governing body (SGB) and not by the department.  A video shows the teacher wielding a knife while arguing with a young boy on school grounds.  The department's Oupa Bodibe said:  “She’s employed by the SGB.  Educators are either directly employed by the department or by the SGBs, so the SGB still has to set up a disciplinary meeting.”
