strike thumb medium85 85EWN reports that striking employees at the state-run National Health Laboratory Services (NHLS) will discuss a new salary package offer from management when they meet on Monday.

Members of the National Education Health and Allied Workers’ Union (Nehawu) and the Public Servants Association (PSA) have been on strike since last Wednesday.  Union members have accepted a 7.3% wage increase, but they are demanding other benefits such as housing allowances and increases in medical aid subsidies.  Nehawu's Khaya Xaba confirmed that a new offer was on the table and said:  “We’re taking that offer back to our members, they will give us the go ahead on whether to accept it and whether we should end the strike.”
