KPMGEWN reports that, while questions have been raised about why KPMG paid severance packages to its top executives who left the company amid controversy over its Gupta dealings, according to CEO Nhlamu Dlomu this was done following recommendations from the parent company.

KPMG has come under fire for the role it played in auditing a Gupta-owned company that was allegedly used to channel taxpayers’ money to fund a lavish wedding at Sun City in 2013.  Eight executives including then CEO Trevor Hoole stepped down in September.  Dlomu, who succeeded Hoole, said the payouts were worked out based on different criteria which she could not disclose.
