eskomANA reports that the National Union of Metalworkers of SA (Numsa) on Sunday called for an independent investigation into all “shady dealings” at electricity parastatal Eskom and the suspension of certain officials pending the outcome of a disciplinary process.

The union said that Eskom was a never ending story of corruption and state capture, with it having admitted to lying to the media when it claimed payments made to consulting firms Trillian Capital Partners and McKinsey were above board.  Numsa noted the decision by Eskom to recover billions of rand that were unlawfully paid to McKinsey and Trillian in 2016 and 2017 and welcomed the decision by the SA Federation of Trade Unions (Saftu) to lay charges against Trillian and its directors.
