numeNCA reports that the National Union of Metalworkers (NUM) has added its voice to calls for an end to gender-based violence.

The union said efforts to eradicate abuse against women and children should not stop with the end of the 16 Days campaign and it called for ongoing discussions in the fight against gender-based violence.  Abubakar Sebeela, HIV Prevention and Research Coordinator, said:  "This is a call to us as men to do three things that are very important.  One we need to reflect about our actions.  Two we need to allow woman to champion the struggle of gender-based violence and we as men need to sit back and learn from women.  Three is also to understand that the first step to solving a problem is admission."
