amcu thumb medium80 81The Association of Mineworkers and Construction Union (Amcu) on Wednesday issued a statement indicating that it had signed a wage review agreement with African Rainbow Minerals’ (ARM’s) Two Rivers Platinum Mine.  

According to the statement, the parties agreed that the basic rate of pay would increase by R1,000, or 7%.  An example given was that a current rate of R8,091 would be R11,091 by 2020.  Furthermore, employees who fell within the bargaining unit would receive the increase on their current salaries.  The housing assistance for the period of the agreement would take the current allowance of R3,000 to R4,000 by 2020.  Furthermore, employees would be able to choose the number of dependents they wanted to put on their medical aid, however, any additional charges would be carried by the member.  Pregnant employees would qualify for four consecutive months’ maternity leave at full salary.  In respect of funerals, employees would get four days of family responsibility leave, while the company would contribute 50% towards the total current benefit contributions, and the employee would contribute the balance.
