metrorail thumb medium90 92ANA reports that approximately 100 people were injured on Tuesday after a collision between two Metrorail passenger trains at the Eloff extension in Selby, south of Johannesburg.

ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring said paramedics, together with other services, arrived on the scene to find both trains upright and on the tracks and that numerous people had already climbed off the trains and were walking around.  "Emergency services set up a triage area and began to assess the patients.  Approximately 100 patients were assessed and found to have sustained minor to moderate injuries.  Fortunately, no serious injuries or fatalities were found.  The patients were treated for their injuries and were thereafter transported by several services to a nearby hospital," Meiring said.  Details surrounding the incident are not yet known, but local authorities are investigating.
