numsaEngineering News reports that the National Union of Metalworkers of SA (Numsa) will hold a march to all the offices of the Retail Motor Industry Organisation (RMI) on Tuesday, 27 October to hand over memorandums of demands at each venue.

The RMI is an employer body representing many component manufacturers in the automotive industry.  Numsa says its members who fall under the RMI are upset that a wage agreement agreed to at the Motor Industries Bargaining Council (Mibco) last year has not been gazetted.  The union alleges that workers who are employed by component manufacturers have not yet received the 8% increase, which was agreed to in January last year.  According to Numsa, Mibco should have met by now to endorse the agreement so that it could be gazetted by the Department of Employment and Labour.  Numsa represents about 70,000 workers in the retail motor sector and it is the majority union at Mibco.  Pickets will take place at the RMI offices in Randburg, Pinetown and Bellvile, as well as at the Mibco offices in Randburg.
