ComairBDLive reports that almost a week after downing tools over salary increases‚ Comair workers affiliated to the United Association of SA (Uasa) reached a settlement with the company on Tuesday afternoon.

The parties have now agreed on a 23% increase over three years — 10% this year‚ 7% next year and 6% in 2018.  This is less than what the union was demanding‚ but its chairperson Enough Matsimbi commented:  "We managed to send out a message to the company and for the first time in its existence‚ it has listened to us.  We are happy with what we have achieved."  The workers took to the streets on Wednesday last week demanding a 35% increase over a period of three years.  The company had originally offered the equivalent of 22‚5% (about 7.5% per year) increase for the same period.
