OakbayBDLive reports that a sympathy campaign has been launched to save Oakbay Investments, with a letter claiming to be from employees making an "impassioned plea" to the CEOs of local banks to resume banking services.

Oakbay Investments, which holds assets for the Gupta family such as Sahara Computers and The New Age newspaper, would collapse by the end of next month unless banks provided services, the letter said.  Callers to talk radio station 702 from people claiming to work for Oakbay distanced themselves from the letter.  One employee said she and other colleagues knew nothing about the letter written on their behalf.  SABC News journalist Aldrin Sampear, reporting from Oakbay headquarters on Wednesday, said Oakbay employees "claim the company is using their anxiety to try and influence the banks", and that they had not been consulted on the letter.
