anglogoldashantiEWN reported on Sunday that officials of AngloGold Ashanti said they would visit the Savuka Mine to conduct an inspection once they were certain it was safe to go down the shaft.

Two mineworkers were killed when a 3.5 magnitude earth tremor caused a rock fall underground at the Carletonville mine on Friday.  AngloGold's Stewart Bailey said:  “We will wait for the dissipation of all residual aftershocks that normally occur after this 3.5 magnitude activity.  Officials from the Department of Mining and Industry and the company will go down to conduct the inspection.”
