strike thumb medium85 85ANA reports that protesting workers on the N1 highway have dispersed after they blocked the road on Tuesday morning.  

“The roads have been cleared.  The workers left just after 10 am and headed to the Sanral offices,” said Wayne Minnaar, spokesperson for Joburg Metro police.  Earlier on Tuesday, picketing contract workers employed by Teti Traffic, a company that manages traffic incidents on behalf of the SA National Roads Agency Limited (Sanral), blocked the N1 highway in Midrand as they marched to their head office to demand wage hikes.  The workers marched on the N1 from the New Road off-ramp to their head office, in the process disrupting the flow of traffic.  The workers claim that their wages have not increased since 2012, which the company has denied.
