postoffice thumb100 Business Report writes that the Communication Workers Union (CWU) is preparing to halt SA Post Office (Sapo) operations this week.

CWU president Clyde Mervin said on Tuesday that the union would roll out mass action beginning with a march in the Western Cape tomorrow (Thursday), followed by marches in Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal on Friday.  “We are hoping to bus people from Mpumalanga, North West and Limpopo to the march in Gauteng.  We are sorting out logistics at this stage,” Mervin indicated.  Workers want casuals to be employed permanently.  They are also demanding equal pay for equal work and that Sapo should pay increases owed to staff for the past two years.
