sanral thumb100 BDLive reports that striking workers at Teti Traffic assembled at the SA National Roads Agency Limited’s (Sanral’s) offices in Midrand on Wednesday morning.

They were awaiting the outcome of talks with their employer at the offices of the Council for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA) in Pretoria.  The company is contracted by Sanral to clear accidents off the roads of Gauteng.  Traffic came to a standstill on the freeway on Tuesday when the striking workers blocked the N1 North near the New Road off ramp on the first day of the strike.  The union is demanding salary increases for a number of categories of its members, as well as other benefits including a provident fund‚ medical aid and a 13th cheque.  The employer has indicated it can only afford only a 7% increase.
