Netwerk24 reports that the two-day strike by members of the Communication Workers Union (CWU) at the SA Post Office (Sapo) has ended.
The strike was over salary increases and to persuade management to appoint temporary workers in permanent positions. In a joint statement on Friday, the two parties indicated that they had agreed to a process to resolve their outstanding labour issues. Sapo CEO Mark Barnes indicated that after hours of consultation, the CWU agreed to suspend its industrial action for a month. According to management, less than 1% of the 22,000 employees took part in the strike.
