News24 reports that former Cape Times editor Alide Dasnois' sacking in 2013 is expected to come under the spotlight in the Labour Court in Cape Town on Monday.
Dasnois is expected to argue that her dismissal was in breach of her right to freedom of expression; that it was an unfair labour practice under the Labour Relations Act; and that it was in breach of her contract. At the time many felt her removal was related to an article on an adverse finding by the Public Protector against a subsidiary of Sekunjalo, which is the holding company of Independent News and Media SA and the publisher of Cape Times.
