News24 reports that a case of reckless and negligent driving is being investigated by police after two buses collided and burst into flames in Khayelitsha, leaving more than 50 people injured.
The two buses collided in Site C at about 18:00 on Tuesday. Golden Arrow bus services spokesperson Bronwen Dyke confirmed that two of its drivers have been suspended pending further investigation. Both were said to be "in a state of shock". Fifty-four passengers sustained what are believed to be minor injuries, Dyke said, and were transported to Khayelitsha Day Hospital. Both buses were burnt out at the scene.
