ems joburgEWN reports that the Johannesburg Emergency Services Department says it can only take disciplinary action against some of its members implicated in a report into the deaths of two of their colleagues once investigations were complete.

Two weeks ago, the department released the findings of three separate probes into the deaths of Michael Letsosa and Daniel Zwane, indicating a failure by some members of the team.  The department’s Robert Mulaudzi noted that reports have indicated that there was a deviation from command procedures, possible insubordination and a failure to appoint a safety officer.  But, he said, before the department could take action, internal investigators must gather evidence to determine what disciplinary action to take.
