Mining Weekly reports that Northam Platinum on Tuesday called on employees at its Zondereinde mine to return to work now that calm has been restored.
The platinum producer on Monday temporarily suspended operations at the mine following incidents of violence. This had followed the deaths of two employees in separate incidents on Sunday and Monday. Northam CE Paul Dunne called on all parties to act responsibly, saying: “We urge all parties to exercise leadership following these tragic incidents, in the interests of safety for all.”
