SABC News reports that Mineral Resources Minister, Mosebenzi Zwane, says the investigation into what led to a massive collapse at a mine shaft and the disappearance of a container with three Lily Mine workers inside, is still underway.
The incident happened at Vantage Goldfields’ Lily Mine in Mpumalanga three months ago. In a parliamentary reply, Zwane said the investigation would reveal the underlying causes of the accident. The recovery mission has since been halted, to drill a second evacuation hole near the container. Back then, Zwane said it could take up to eight months to recover the container.
