protesteNCA reports that protestors who marched on the Lily Mine in Mpumalanga on Sunday issued an ultimatum to the management over the recovery of three trapped mine workers.

They said that if they were not recovered in three days, the Barberton mine must be permanently shut down.  National Union of Mineworkers’ members marched to the gates of Lily Mine with a set of demands and accused the mine's management of not doing enough to bring closure to the families, who have been waiting for over 128 days for the recovery of their loved ones.  Labour federation Cosatu gave its backing to the march.  It said the missing workers have been failed at the highest level.  However, the march quickly became an ANC election rally - a move that angered grieving family members.
