StellenboschUniversityBDLive reports that Stellenbosch University, which continues to grapple with issues of transformation, has taken a decision to remunerate its female and male staff equally.

The Human Resources Committee of the university council requested the HR Division, from a parity perspective, to determine whether women and male employees at the university were treated in an equitable manner in terms of remuneration.  HR identified a limited number of instances where women were being remunerated at a lower level than comparable male employees on the same level.  The university said it would now implement pay parity, in consultation with the various deans and heads of professional, administrative, support and service divisions.  Each of the affected women would receive parity adjustments backdated to 1 January 2016 that would ensure equitable remuneration with their comparable male counterparts.
