BDLive reports that labour federation Cosatu is demanding the reinstatement of eight ANN7 employees dismissed for allegedly refusing to be addressed by ANC Youth League president Collen Maine earlier this year.
The employees were reportedly escorted off the company’s Gauteng premises on Friday. Cosatu spokesman Sizwe Pamla on Monday said politicians were not primary stakeholders in workplace matters and no employee should be "coerced and bullied" into embracing them or political interventions. "This is an unacceptable and blatant ill-treatment of workers and we demand their immediate reinstatement,” Pamla said in a statement. The SA National Editors’ Forum (Sanef) has reportedly said it would request a meeting with ANN7 editor Moegsien Williams following the employees’ dismissal.
