VantageGoldfieldseNCA writes that Vantage Goldfields has confirmed that Canadian company AfroCan has failed to meet a deadline to pay more than R36-million.  The money would have seen operations at Lily Mine resume.

It is unclear why AfroCan failed to pay, but Vantage Goldfields has claimed it had no right to withdraw or terminate the agreement made in May.  The Barberton operation was placed under business rescue after a shaft collapsed in February.  Lily Mine has not been able to pay workers since March.  Three workers are still trapped underground after a container they were working in plunged into a massive sink hole.
