TMG Digital reports that Massmart has distanced itself from job seekers who wait outside its stores and offer their services to contractors and do-it-yourself homeowners.
This comes after a job seeker allegedly attacked a contractor with a spirit level over a pay dispute near a Builders Warehouse store in Fourways‚ Johannesburg. Annaleigh Vallie of Massmart said the company could not control or vet who stood outside its stores on public roads. She commented further: "We are open to investing in constructive ideas that will facilitate a responsible outcome that accommodates the needs of contractors and private homeowners without compromising the rights of residents and informal work seekers."
