The New Age reports that normal bus services resumed on Tuesday following an end to a Durban Transport bus drivers’ strike.  

This followed assurances from the eThekwini municipality that it was still committed to establishing a municipal bus entity, which was meant to take over from the present management, Tansnat, as of 1 July.  At a meeting with bus drivers, Tansnat management and labour unions, city manager Sibusiso Sithole reassured bus drivers that the municipality would not divert from its plans of resuming control of the management of Durban transport buses.  He urged drivers to be patient while all necessary processes were finalised.  The drivers had been on strike since last Thursday, leaving thousands of commuters stranded.
