JacarandaFM reports that veteran journalist Vuyo Mvoko will be back in court on Tuesday, fighting to have his independent contract with the SA Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) enforced.
The broadcaster took action against Mvoko and seven other journalists after they expressed opposition to an editorial decision to not show footage of violent protests and dictatorial management styles. Mvoko penned a critical front page article detailing his experiences at the SABC. The SABC has since re-instated the seven permanent employees, but has not done so with Mvoko. It has stopped scheduling Mvoko, who is an independent contractor, for any work.
