SABC News writes that as Communication Workers Union (CWU) members embark on industrial action, Telkom operations could be under pressure. CWU negotiator, Toto Ntetho, said there would be a total shutdown.
“We engaged with Telkom on the salary negotiations and as Communications Workers Union we are demanding 11%. We are also demanding equal pay for equal work of value as amended last year in terms of employment equity act,” said Ntetho. He went on to explain: “However, as we engaged at Commission for Conciliation‚ Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA) Telkom offered 6% which was only the inflation related increase and we have objected on that.”
