sapsTMG Digital reports that Police Minister Nathi Nhleko has launched a task team that will look into ways of improving various operations of the SA Police Service (SAPS).  

The Ministerial Transformation Task Team launched in Pretoria on Monday by Nhleko follows recommendations made by the Farlam commission that probed the killing of 44 people at Marikana in August 2012‚ 34 of whom were mineworkers shot dead by police on 16 August.  A separate panel of experts, announced in April this year, is looking at how the SAPS could improve public order policing.  The 10-member transformation task team will be chaired by Rev Vukile Charles Mehana.  Deputy Police Minister Maggie Sotyu will be the overseer of both the transformation task team and the panel of experts.
