The Citizen reports that a full bench of the North Gauteng High Court has confirmed the life sentences imposed on four would-be robbers for the murder of a policeman, who was shot dead by a co-perpetrator who has since died.
Sergeant Mandyme Micasio was shot dead while police were trying to stop a planned robbery at a Limpopo garage. The appeal of the four was against their convictions and sentences of life and 20 years’ imprisonment. The appeal judges ruled that all four had planned the robbery, were present either at the scene or in the immediate vicinity and had made common cause with the conduct of their cohort, who shot the policeman and clearly intended to kill him.
