News24 reports that the SA Democratic Teachers' Union (Sadtu) has threatened to protest if more than 205 temporary teachers in Limpopo do not receive their salaries on or before 23 August.
In a statement issued on Saturday, Sadtu provincial secretary Matome Raphasha said: "The union’s stance is that no instruction (by the department) should lead to non-payment of salaries of employees for several months in an attempt to control budgets. This leads to an unfortunate consequence of children being left behind the desks in the classroom without a teacher.” A spokesperson for the department said teachers who had not received their salaries should contact the department.
