EWN reports that with Johannesburg experiencing a change in government, the new mayor Herman Mashaba has assured all competent council workers in the city that their jobs are safe.
He has, however, warned that he will be conducting skills audits and performance reviews and that all staff members that are not useful will be removed. The skills audits will begin as early as Tuesday morning. Mashaba indicated: “This morning I’m meeting with the City manager. I need to do a skills audit to ensure that anyone who’s in the wrong job, we’ve got start moving people around so that and unleash the potential of our people. We don’t want our staff to be scared of politicians.”
