SABC News reported on Tuesday that employees of Robertson Winery in the Boland region of the Western Cape have still not reached an agreement with their employer over a pay dispute.  

About 220 employees belonging to trade union CSAAWU have been on strike since last Wednesday.  They are demanding to be paid R8,500 a month, against salaries of just under R3,700.  Negotiations have broken down at the CCMA.  CSAAWU General Secretary Trevor Christians indicated that they have started an international campaign to boycott Robertson wines.  The company’s CEO Anton Cilliers said he remained confident the dispute would be resolved through constructive engagement between the union and company.
