VantageGoldfieldsBusiness Report writes that hopes are dim for retrieving the three miners who are trapped in an underground container at the Vantage Goldfields-owned Lily Gold Mine in Barberton.

Since the mine collapse in February, there have been three attempts to retrieve the container.  Sturns Business Rescue Practitioners have indicated:  “Current conditions on and within the mine are still extremely dangerous and the mine has been declared closed.  Once the new decline has been established in safe conditions, retrieval operations of the container will commence.”  The company has appointed an external investigation team to determine the cause of the accident.
