assmangMining Review reports that the National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) said it was “shocked and disappointed” to learn of an alleged sexual harassment incident involving one of its members at ferrochrome producer Assmang’s Black Rock mine

According to a statement by the NUM, the incident involved a manager.  "What angers the union and its members at Black Rock, is the vile and disgusting treatment the employee received from the company, whose management is hell-bent on defending one of their own and thus violating several rights of the victim," the statement indicated.  The union said it would leave no stone unturned in the fight against abuse of women and thus ensuring that all workplaces promoted the rights of employees.
