BDlive reports that labour federation Cosatu and the SA Communist party (SACP) will seek to ally with students to take the battle over tuition costs to the rich and private capita and way from the state.  

Cosatu general secretary Bheki Ntshalintshali said on Wednesday that the organisations would consult with and seek to join student formations in order to march on the Chamber of Mines and "other centres of private capital" on 14 October.  Several universities remained shut on Wednesday due to student protests since Monday over 2017 tuition costs.  Promising support for poorer students, the Department of Higher Education and Training announced on Monday that fees would be capped at 8%, with individual institutions to determine increases.
