sidumodlaminiMail & Guardian writes that the upcoming central executive committee (CEC) meeting of labour federation Cosatu will probably leave its president, S'dumo Dlamini, isolated.

Cracks are beginning to emerge in the faction in the tripartite alliance that remains loyal to President Jacob Zuma, which includes Dlamini, as Cosatu’s major unions find themselves at odds with him.  The unions have openly defied his call to refrain from entering the ANC leadership debate and to mute the criticism of recent government scandals.  Over the past six months the Cosatu president has become the last line of defence for Zuma's faction.  Monday's meeting will see Dlamini pitted against the leaders of unions including Nehawu, the NUM, Safpu and Sasawu.
