News24 reports that Cosatu has given the social development minister Bathabile Dlamini just over a week to resign, failing which the labour federation would lead a “massive protest in the country” to have her unseated.  

Cosatu held a small picket outside the gates of Parliament on Sunday where it handed over a memorandum to a parliamentary representative.  According to its memorandum, the federation is demanding that urgent steps be put in place by the Presidency to ensure that social grant payments take place as due on 1 April; that the current grant provider, Cash Paymaster Services (CPS), be investigated for corruption and that any links between CPS and politicians be revealed.  Signed by provincial secretary Tony Ehrenreich, the union slammed Dlamini, saying she had had four years to deal with the matter.
