Cape Argus reports that “racist behaviour currently experienced in the Western Cape” is the latest grievance trade union federation Cosatu has appealed to SA Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) to investigate.
The provincial structure handed over a memorandum to the organisation on Human Rights Day on Tuesday at Muizenberg beach. The federation’s provincial chairperson, Motlatsi Tsubane, said they had asked the SAHRC to “urgently intervene” in the manner that government resources were being allocated. He said Cosatu wanted authorities to be consistently fair in the distribution of resources and singled out the allocation of resources to schools in poorer areas compared with those in more affluent neighbourhoods, as well as the “transport challenges” faced by residents in some areas.
