eNCA reports that the National Union of Metalworkers of SA (Numsa) says it will address its members on Saturday on the agreement reached by three other unions in the bus passenger transport sector.  

The agreement reached on Friday effectively ended the industrial action.  Three unions, including the SA Transport and Allied Workers' Union Satawu, agreed to a 9% wage hike after Labour Minister Mildred Oliphant intervened.  Also included in the deal is a 10% increase in allowances, although the wage deal is for only a year.  Numsa and the Transport and Service Workers’ Union (Taswu) rejected the deal, but will take it to members for discussion.  The Labour Department has pointed out that, if the majority of the unions falling under the applicable bargaining council agree to a deal, then it can be extended to all parties.
