amcu thumb medium80 81TimesLive reports that Association of Mineworkers and Construction Union (Amcu) president Joseph Mathunjwa has handed over a house to the family of the late Mgcineni Noki‚ who became the face of the platinum wage strike at Marikana five years ago.  

The house for the "Man in the Green Blanket" is at eMqanduli.  Noki‚ 30‚ and his green blanket featured prominently during the protests and police shooting of the Lonmin strikers in 2012.  Altogether‚ the union promised to build 34 homes‚ one for each of the miners who died at Marikana‚ through a trust set up by the union.  At the weekend‚ Mathunjwa delivered the first of the homes.
