EWN reports that the Health and Other Service Personnel Trade Union of SA (Hospersa) says it has filed a notice to strike at all national parks across the country.
Workers affiliated to the union are preparing to go on strike from Monday morning. They are demanding a 9% wage increase, while the parks’ management is offering 7%. Negotiations failed even after the CCMA intervened. Janine Raftopoulos of SANParks said workers needed to consider the operational costs of parks. “We’ve offered what we considered the fairest and the best interest of running the entity as it stands,” sge stated.
