Trade union Solidarity confirmed on Friday that, following a series of negotiations during the week, it reached an agreement with Mango management on behalf of its members late on Thursday night.  

This came after pilots had been on strike since Monday.  According to Solidarity Deputy General Secretary Deon Reyneke, Mango’s management came to the negotiating table with a solution-driven approach and members therefore gave the trade union a mandate to accept a new offer.  Mango committed itself within the next six months to bring to the table an agreement outlining the scheduling of flight rosters and hours of work required of pilots.  According to Reyneke, it is of particular importance to the union’s members to enter into such an agreement.  Mango also agreed to grant members a 7% increase, which was accepted.  Solidarity members at Mango apparently reported for work on Friday morning.
